Nashville

Nashville Tennessee! The sun is shining and the birds are singing. 5.50am - well the sun is just about to come up, but the birds are chattering away brightly!
A long day yesterday with the flight from Heathrow leaving about 2 hours late, so missed the connection in Atlanta, but got on the next pane to Nashville, so really only lost about an hour. One of the bags didn't arrive with me, so hopefully that will be delivered today, and I can begin unpacking/re-packing.
Really good to see Jeff again, and Claire and Carter. Was treated to a wonderful Violin recital from Claire (12)  and a spider man act from Carter (6). Kara is away on business - will be seeing her tomorrow.
A full on weekend in the Oliver household - Claire is away on a musical day at school today; Kara's birthday tomorrow, and Clare's Confirmation and Mother's Day on Sunday, so Grannies and Grandpas will be around for the weekend.

Jeff has promised some live Tennessee music at some point - can't wait.

Very excited to unpack all the new gear that was bought on line and sent to Jeff for my arrival. Equipment looks really good - new tent, camping mat, water filtration system, cycle sandals, Solhuma stove, trail shoes, tyres and tubes for the bike (which seems to have arrived in one piece, though haven't tried to assemble it yet as the tools are in the bag that has gone AWOL!); (Will detail all equipment in a few days time!!).

Sleep pattern a bit off kilter - wide awake at 4 am this morning (10 am UK time), but I am sure I will collapse in a heap sometime during the day!! But today is just chilling out at Jeff's place waiting for the bag to arrive and then will assemble the bike, put up the new tent - which looks amazing...and so light for a two man, figure out how the solar charging system works, and wait for the GoPro video camera to arrive and then play around with that.

So all good in the US of A and thrilled to finally be here, with the start of something really big just around the corner.

  1. Hi there, this is so exciting! Lucy will be so happy and envious that you've got the GoPro! You are going to have great fun with it. Good luck with everything, we are 'following' you :-) We were marshalls for the Iron Will in the Chimanimani's and I managed the 600 m climb, so I am very proud of myself. Our tent leaked and we were sopping wet all night. I dressed in a rubbish bad to keep the warm wet in! Fortunately it was not a very cold night and certainly part of the iron will attitude. Lucy has made a wonderful DVD to entertain the competitors, all to music and it will be launched at the Winter Warmer next Friday. So glad I took a peek at your blog today to join you at the start. Go well. Trish

    1. Glad you both made the Ironwill - I was thinking of everyone and wondering if it was a wet one. Congrats on the climb - fantastic, but sorry to hear about the rubbish bag - almost did the same last weekend in Wales - spent the night tent less on the top of a mountain - bloody cold wind but at least no rain - climbed into a survival bag!!! Still froze my balls off!!!
Thanks for your message - really appreciate your comments. A few days now and I will be on the road.
Take care and love to all at the gym and Zim.

    1. Hi Lucy,
Glad you made the Ironwill and managed to get some footage.
Actually the GoPro has not quite arrived but is on its way - they didn't have the additional battery in stock when I ordered so the order was delayed - should be here mid week, when I will ready to head out and have some fun with it. Could have done with it this morning - went trail running with Jeff in a beautiful forest area, not far from his house - would have got some great footage.
Not long now before I will be on the road - quite scary!!!!
      Take care and best wishes,
      Hoppy
