Awesome!

Bright sunshine in the middle of winter with very mild weather. Had a fantastic training ride - managed to find an off road track in the forest - felt so exhilarated and it started to engender in me the feeling of freedom I hope to find on the open road during the trip. Cold weather clothing worked well, was warm as toast but not fully cooked!! However, am still awaiting an order from a cycle shop for some new stuff - new over trousers, and waterproof jacket (my existing ones have lost their waterproofing!), some sub-zero waterproof gloves for cycling in really cold weather, some cycling glasses with transferable lenses for cycling in differing light, and a kick stand for the bike - nothing more frustrating than having to find something to prop the bike on when stopped, and then the bike falling over, and the paint work getting scraped!!!
Am interested to see how the waterproof gloves work. I have read so many comments from people who say that no glove is fully waterproof - well, we'll see. One touring cyclist said that the best option was to buy a pair of extra large industrial gloves - dry as ever and warm with ordinary gloves on the inside! Another option.
Also awaiting an Amazon kindle which is exciting - have found that I can download the Lonely Planet for most of the Americas, which will certainly save in weight in the terms of not having to carry books on the trip! I wonder if one can also download google maps onto the kindle - that would be great!
Not much work around at the moment which is worrying!! Will just have to win the lottery - dream on sunshine!!
